Focus on Comic and Manga Style

When it comes to art I tend to focus on comic art or manga style art. Growing up I’ve always loved drawing, especially characters from Dragon Ball and other shows that were shown on Toonami at the time. As I grew older, drawing just stuck with me but I’ve never really had a direction for my work until I’ve watched the anime Bakuman. This series inspired me to create manga and I’ve been on that path ever since.

My approach to art-making has changed a lot from when I first started. Creating manga or comics pulls in other elements of art that the creator has to master in order to make a cohesive story. So over time, I’ve been improving my skills in character design, logo design, graphic design, and story-making. Since I’m working by myself, I have only myself to rely on in all of these processes. As I continue to work and grow, I find my art skills and how I produce slowly coming into my own.

I see myself aiming for publication with my own stories after my 4 years at MCLA; however, I do have plans to expand myself beyond just manga so I don’t have all my eggs in one basket. My future isn’t set in stone but I have a strong idea where I want it to go.
